Participatory art installations and exhibitions
– The Green Diary of Virtuous Actions for Mother Earth: the small diaries made by the fourth-year pupils of the S. Maria primary school, installed for the exhibition.
– The Mandala of the Green Earth – a hanging sculpture
– The Sorted Room – a large installation: a wood and Plexiglas cube-room completely filled with plastic bottles for recycling.
– Seven artists for the Beautiful Earth – paintings and installations by seven artists particularly sensitive to environmental issues.

Meetings and Symbolic Actions

Land Art, the pleasure of making a work of art in harmony with nature – talk by Teri Volini with projection of images on a large screen, Friday 26 February. Presented by Franco Sabia, Director of the Biblioteca Nazionale di Potenza, and Franco Vomero for WWF Potenza.

International Women’s Day: Hieros Gamos, the Sacred Marriage – Installation / Symbolic Action. Large photographic panel, the Artist’s hand-embroidered white tulle veil, other veils in blue and violet and two shorter ones in yellow and orange tulle. Monday 8 March, by Teri Volini and the working group of the Delta Centre.

Land art, le plaisir de réaliser une oeuvre d’art en harmonie avec la nature – talk by Teri Volini in French, with images on a large screen, for French speakers, in collaboration with the Alliance Française. Tuesday 16 March, 4.30–8 pm. Presented by Carmine Vazza, President of the Alliance Française of Potenza, and Valeria Sperti, university lecturer.

Public emptying of “The Sorted Room” – Symbolic Action in Participatory Art with the pupils of the Santa Maria primary school and the public, in collaboration with ACTA. Saturday 20 March, 11 am – 1 pm

Introduction

Favouring alternative ways to the prevailing cynical conformism – in harmony with a lifestyle based on knowledge, love and protection of nature – can be art’s new privileged possibility: an indispensable vision, given the state of Gaia, the Earth.

The search for a renewed harmony and the theoretical and practical commitment to contribute to a world respectful of all beings and of nature lie at the heart of all my twenty years of work.

I dedicate the Exhibition-Event The Beautiful Earth to the great master Joseph Beuys, who gave greater strength to my own way of making art, confirming not only the priority of defending nature but the possibility and moral duty of “an art that shapes culture and life” itself, contributing to “a system that transforms the whole social organism into a work of art”, transforming “not only the making of paintings and sculptures, but the whole social form”.

Dear friends,
I would like to let you know that on Saturday 20 February the Exhibition-Event The Beautiful Earth opens at the Biblioteca Nazionale in Potenza; I attach the brochure with the full programme.
All the work of 2009 in defence of the Earth will be on show, together with paintings and photographs plus a large installation… and much more.
