The Delta Centre for Art and Culture in Potenza presents the Project and the Work I AM ONE WITH THE FRUITS OF THE EARTH by Teri Volini, with its first Event, a Conference on
AGRO-ENERGY SUPPLY CHAINS AND TERRITORIAL DEVELOPMENT
21 March, at the SUNSET Café, via della Chimica 99, Potenza (near OVS), 5 pm.
Under the patronage of the Order of Agronomists and Foresters of the Province of Potenza, the first body to respond to the invitation of the Artist, a Lucanian cultural organiser and environmentalist long committed to fostering, through Art, a new respect for Nature.
The proposal, made in 2012, was to encourage a series of meetings, talks, workshops, conferences, performances and exhibitions on themes linked to the quality of the fruits of the earth – and therefore of food – “activated” by the creation of a Work of collective self-awareness with a large number of participants as testimonials.
The Work now on display was created over a year: it represents a large apple, formed by the puzzle of the faces of more than 500 co-participants, contacted and/or photographed personally by the artist in the region, in Italy and abroad; as small cells of the fruit, they bear witness to the basic idea of the Work: the defence of the earth and its fruits.
I AM ONE WITH THE FRUITS OF THE EARTH reminds us that we are one with nature, and demands that the fruits we eat be as whole and healthy as possible, for our health and for the preservation of future generations and of the planet we live on.
In brief
After the welcome, the evening programme includes the presentation of the Project and the Work, and a talk by Prof. Volini on Protecting the environment through art and culture.
This is followed by the Conference: AGRO-ENERGY SUPPLY CHAINS AND TERRITORIAL DEVELOPMENT.
Eng. Rocco Di Grazia, President of Progetto Europa Energy S.p.A., will speak on Local Development Processes linked to the Revival of Agricultural Production in Depressed Areas, with interesting environmentally friendly production proposals, such as combining an algae production system with a refuse-derived fuel plant to produce fuel oil for generating electricity…
The talk will be followed by contributions from various experts on the different ways our region can support innovative agriculture and environmental sustainability:
- Dr Italo Blotti, agronomist: Technical consultancy for farms – a high-quality, zero-residue finished product for healthier food
- Dr Biagio Peluso, agronomist: Small supply chains – current reality and development prospects
- Dr Carla Brienza, President of the Food Technologists of Basilicata and Calabria: Quality and sustainability of the food industry
- Dr Domingo Pisani, agronomist, head of the Nitrates Directive, ARA Basilicata: The Nitrates Directive, energy not to be wasted – biogas as an alternative energy source
- Dr Luigi Zuccaro, forester, Basilicata Region: Regional energy planning – support for agro-energy supply chains
The association SOS Utenti will speak for the real needs of the end consumer, through its President, Savino Genovese, on food education and consumer protection.
