MINIATURES in mixed media, in relief or incised, with material inclusions
Italy, various places, 1990–1994
On an ochre “clod” similar to clay, which she developed herself, spread on a glossy support and worked while still fresh, the Artist kneads, cuts and carves; she uses points of various sizes to incise flowers, necklaces, plants and everyday or imaginary objects; faces of girls and women of great refinement, often undefined, almost like images surfacing from an archaeological site, on ancient potsherds…
In that lump of “earth” she draws, colours, paints; she includes gold dust and flower petals, sand and fine threads…
These are the relief miniatures in mixed media, small delicate worlds: an interval between the intense colour of the paintings and that of the Red Ribbon which would later burst forth…
