I am One with the Trees
Io sono Uno con gli Alberi
Artist’s Manifesto – Lifelong Learning

ARTIST’S MANIFESTO – Teri Volini’s work in Body Art, Public Art, Urban Art and Participatory Art involves the direct and continuous communication of alternating socio-artistic, cultural and environmental messages:
I AM ONE WITH THE AIR – autumn–winter 2009–10
I AM ONE WITH THE WATER – spring–summer 2010
I AM ONE WITH THE TREES – autumn 2010 – spring 2011
With the Fivefold Installation in the city of Potenza, the Lucanian artist confirms her commitment to the environment, declaring her close belonging to the elements of nature. The meaning of the declaration, “written” on the artist’s own body, is clear and stern: if we continue to consider ourselves separate from the Earth and to see in it only an object to dominate and exploit, the state of the planet can only get worse, and so will the quality of our lives.
The giant image can be seen in the following outdoor places: 1) Viale Dante, opposite the escalators; 2) Rione S. Maria (via Lazio, primary school wall); 3) Piazza M. Pagano, under the arcade; 4) Piazza V. Emanuele, escalator entrance; 5) Parco Europa Unita; 6) via Appia railway bridge.
Related actions: planting new trees in the city of Potenza; seminars and workshops in schools (Art in Defence of the Environment); planting an oak in honour of the thought and work of Joseph Beuys, presented by Lucrezia De Domizio.
