Drops of Light
Gocce di luce
Back-lit polychrome sculptures
From the paintings:
With this work I want to highlight the cellular way in which my paintings “build” their images – their polychromy, movement and magic – by exploring them, choosing details and revisiting them as if through a close-up lens.
The enlarged details chosen each time are reproduced with current printing techniques on Plexiglas discs, then hung in a window or back-lit, forming a light sculpture as simple as it is original and visually striking.
Other forms of installation – on the floor or on stands – are possible, in some cases even “cutting out” the outlines of the figures – female, animal, plant or mythical – that people my paintings.
It is also possible to create fixed or semi-mobile structures of great beauty – back-lit doors, windows, walls or ceilings – by framing the printed Plexiglas sheets or hanging them from the ceiling with invisible suspension systems.
