The Portals of Beauty

The works:

The light installation “THE PORTALS OF BEAUTY” was created ad hoc for an ancient restored convent, now a venue for exhibitions and conferences.
Six back-lit opalescent stelae and an exceptional 2-metre Column of light and colour bring before our eyes the polychrome beauty of the splendid stained-glass windows of medieval churches, which inspired the artist.
The polychromy comes from the colours of Teri Volini’s paintings, through the emphasis of certain intense details which, in fine synergy, express Eckhart Tolle’s evocative statement “Flowers are the enlightenment of plants”.

In the ancient place of prayer and silence, the light installation brings a special vibration, while introducing the exhibition itinerary of original paintings and of photographs of Performances, Installations and Symbolic Actions, created for the event Basilicata in tutti i sensi, emozioni e culture a confronto, presented on Friday 27 September 2013 at the Convento Wine Space in Barile.

The enlightenment of plants

Seeing beauty in a flower
can awaken humans to beauty
because it is an essential part
of their deepest being,
of their true nature…
The most fragile, ethereal and delicate flowers
have become almost messengers
from another realm,
a bridge between the world of form
and that of the formless.
Not only do they have a sweet and pleasant scent
for humans,
but within them also a fragrance of the world of spirit.
Flowers are the enlightenment of plants.
