Peace with the Earth and with Humanity

La Pacificazione con la Terra e con l'Umanità

The search for a renewed harmony, the theoretical and practical commitment to contribute to a way of life respectful of all beings and of nature, lies at the heart of all of Teri Volini’s work.

If already in her Paintings she exalted and magnified the beauty and generosity of Mother Earth,

under the aegis of Social Sculpture and Living Sculpture – with research, symbolic actions, publications, performances, videos and installations in Performing Art, Land Art – Earth Art, Sharing Art, Public Art, Body Art, Textile Art, Fiber Art, Urban Art, Video Art, Writing Art –

for more than fifteen years the Artist has practised an art directly aimed at defending the planet: from the declaration of being one with nature and with all beings (through the weaving of the gigantic Web of red thread stretched between two peaks of the Castelmezzano “dolomites” in 1999 – The Invisible Real – The Web),

strengthened in 2002 by the practice of the Mudras and the writing of Mandalas;

from the promise to achieve real harmony with the planet by sending it messages (Message in the Bottle, Rionero in Vulture, 2005),

to the alarmed call to our insensitivity (Tentacular Invasions, Potenza, 2007), up to The Beautiful Earth, a complex series of participatory art events to raise awareness among young people and civil society on environmental issues, directly linked to the expansion of our personal consciousness (2009–2011),

and to the personal Artist’s Manifestos and the Collective Works, with 40, 50, 80… up to 520 participants from Italy and abroad,

Teri Volini invites us to make peace with the Earth by actively practising Land Art understood as art in favour of the planet: not the superimposition of human work on the natural landscape – taken for granted by the multinationals of art – but synergy with it; respect for places, poetry of the artistic intervention and impermanence of the works, or at least a light, eco-compatible impact, in line with that longing for harmony and balance, that feeling one with the whole, which more and more people perceive and put into practice.

The next step is to work for peace on earth, among all peoples and in our hearts.

Humans live on the planet as masters, ungrateful and invasive guests; throughout historical time destroyers of their fellow beings and of nature, they now feel that today, every limit having been passed, it is time to begin alternative paths.

Art can bear witness to and activate this indispensable change, to help create a new world in which awareness and generosity, respect, solidarity, welcome, collaboration, sharing, support and love become the founding elements for achieving the peace of true Humanity.
